The elegant, delicately stepping Sandpiper is a common sight throughout Australia wherever there are tidal mudflats or wetlands. Captured here in its characteristic poses, the Sandpiper can be seen in a feeding position with a lowered head, and also its raised head pose. These handmade Sandpipers are a lifelike representation of this pretty bird. The body is made from sustainable Camphor Laurel and the head from resin, the whole hand-carved with the head hand painted. Beautiful singly or with its partner this carving is a delight.
